ABOVE & BELOW: MXDWN Premieres “Rust” Video; Disorder Recordings To Release Suffer Decay Alone Debut From Industrial Metal Project Of Plaguewielder Guitarist In June

As Ohio-based industrial/ blackened metal act ABOVE & BELOW prepares to release its Suffer Decay Alone debut through Disorder Recordings next month, MXDWN is hosting a premiere of the band’s first video, created for the song “Rust.”

Directly following the release of Plaguewielder’s 2021-released Covenant Death album, primary member Bryce Seditz branched out in 2022 with his solo act ABOVE & BELOW. Utilizing the local noises of mines, steel mills, and the gloom of his surrounding area to create an overwhelming feeling of rejection and despair on the debut album, Suffer Decay Alone sees Seditz applying his influences from the likes of Tim Skold and 3Teeth, and taking the approach of Ministry’s Al Jourgensen, handling all songwriting and most of the production.

With Seditz handling vocals, guitar, synth programming, and engineering, Disorder Recordings owner Jeff Wilson (Chrome Waves, Deeper Graves, Contrition) helps polish off the album with bass, additional manipulation, mixing, and mastering. The album’s bold cover artwork was handled by Chris Smith. ABOVE & BELOW is an act that fans of Ministry, 3Teeth, Godflesh, Frontline Assembly, Meathook Seed, Dødheimsgard, (V.E.G.A.), Red Harvest, and Thorns should hear immediately.

The video for the album’s second single, “Rust,” was directed by Matt Tluchowski. Seditz reveals, “’Rust’ was one of the first three songs I started working on for ABOVE & BELOW. There was a lot of experimenting with synths and programming. Adding guitar pedals to all these different noises and figuring out how they all worked. I’ve always wanted to do an Industrial project but didn’t have the means to do it. Looking back, I was teaching myself how to create this type of music. It was a lot of fun. Lyrically, ‘Rust’ is all about being lost as a human being. Feeling like there is nothing worthwhile in this world for you anymore, which I’m sure a lot of people can relate to.”

MXDWN writes, “If there was ever a song someone could relate to, it is ‘Rust’ by ABOVE & BELOW. Life is an uphill battle with pain and sorrow and just wandering around aimlessly trying to find meaning in life. Being human is complex, and Bryce Seditz is upfront about the gritty and grueling that human beings go through daily.”
