Jason Crews is the owner and editor of INFRARED MAGAZINE and a Dallas–Fort Worth-based music journalist and concert photographer. Through INFRARED MAGAZINE and JASON CREWS PHOTOGRAPHY, he covers rock, metal, country, and live music with a focus on album reviews, artist features, concert coverage, and photography. His work is driven by a genuine passion for music and helping artists connect with new audiences through honest writing, strong visuals, and meaningful storytelling.
A PERFECT CIRCLE returned in October 2017 with The Doomed, signaling the beginning of a new chapter for the band ahead of its first full studio album since 2004’s eMOTIVe.
The track arrived as A Perfect Circle — led by Maynard James Keenan and Billy Howerdel — was back on the road and working toward new material. The group had previously released By and Down in connection with its 2013 greatest-hits collection, but The Doomed became the opening statement for the recording cycle that ultimately produced Eat the Elephant.
The band’s lineup during the period also included James Iha, Matt McJunkins and Jeff Friedl.
A stark black-and-white performance video for The Doomed, directed by Jeremy Danger and Travis Shinn, followed in November. A Perfect Circle continued the rollout with Disillusioned and TalkTalk before releasing Eat the Elephant in April 2018.
