WITHIN THE RUINS will be touring in support of their Phenomena II full-length released in August on MNRK Heavy!
Phenomena II serves as the sequel to the WITHIN THE RUINSâ critically lauded Phenomena full-length, which was released a decade ago and has reaped over 18 million streams to date! âWe had written a handful of songs, and we were searching for inspiration,â recalls guitarist Joe Cocchi. âWe wanted to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Phenomena, because it was a pinnacle point of our career. I wrote a demo that reminded [vocalist] Steve [Tinnon] of Phenomena. So, it was his idea to create Phenomena II. The styles really aligned in terms of the unique guitar effects and the themes where each track tells a story from a comic book characterâs point-of-view.â
Phenomena II is available on CD, LP, and digital formats. Find orders at THIS LOCATION.

Evolution drives longevity. WITHIN THE RUINS relentlessly pushes forward, incinerating complacency and innovating out of its ashes. The Western Massachusetts quartet â Joe Cocchi (guitar), Kevin McGuill (drums), Paolo Galang (bass, clean vocals), and Steve Tinnon (lead vocals) â razes convention with a sonic sensory onslaught anchored by polyrhythmic bludgeoning, head-nodding grooves, viscerally evocative vocals, and vivid storytelling.Â
Their controlled chaos has resulted in tens of millions of streams (a rarity for acts this uncompromisingly heavy), packed houses on tour, and widespread acclaim courtesy of Alternative Press, American Songwriter, Loudwire, Metal Injection, Phoenix New Times, and many more.Â
Now, they continue to evolve on their seventh full-length offering, Phenomena II. âWhen you listen to us, we hope you feel like you found some fresh metal,â notes Cocchi. âAfter doing anything for a long time, itâs easy to get stuck in your ways. So, we always try to present something you havenât heard before â and you arenât going to get anywhere else.â
âWe couldnât be happier Phenomena II is finally out for everyone to hear,â adds Tinnon. âWeâre extremely proud of how it turned out, and we hope you all enjoy the characters and songs as much as we enjoyed making it!â
âWITHIN THE RUINS are seven albums in and absolutely embracing deathcoreâs more cinematic, progressive elements on new single âCastle In The Sky,â striking a balance between furious, stomping beats and nimble, technical guitar lines that have an air of the neoclassical about them.â â Metal Hammer (Best New Songs)
âThe album is composed perfectly, and the music tells a story. We can visualize their message through the music and lyrics. This is one of the best albums I have heard in a very long time. Go listen and experience the phenomenon.â â New Noise Magazine
âProggy deathcore for all!â â Metal InjectionÂ
â[It] seems to start off as a darkwave song before becoming a deathcore track. Itâs a really dynamic contrast that makes the song sound really exciting and vital.â â MetalSucks on âCastle In The Skyâ
ââ¦each track clearly shows how much WITHIN THE RUINS has grown as a band, instrumentation brings a harder magical sound, while the vocal performance dazzles the mind with powerful tunes. Phenomena II is a straight-up metal album that will cause some people to headbang as the music is blaring from their speakers.â — MXDWN
ââ¦an underrated band that deserves more popularity and attention. The guitar leads the way into a video game world type of sound, with a Yngwie Malmsteen virtuosity in some parts. The bass and drums set the pace and support the guttural growls on top. Their sound is strong with low tuning and the album could be the perfect soundtrack whilst youâre playing a video game.â â This Day In Metal
âThis album is utter pulverization. WITHIN THE RUINS are limitless in their music. The bonkers (thatâs the technical term) sounds the instruments make, the hissing backing vocals, the melodic breaks, the grooves and the riffs are a treat. Get the painkillers in and turn it up â Phenomena II is a welcome headache waiting to happen.â â Devolution Magazine
ââ¦recommended to anyone that likes their music technical, ferocious, and brilliantly executed.â â Metal Epidemic
âPrecise, potent, and engaging.â â Hotel Hobbies
âA must-listen for any fan of âcore of progressive music in general.â â Moshville Times
