Cadabra Records presents the inaugural NIGHTLANDS FESTIVAL, a theatrical event paying homage to the literary masters of horror and the dark arts. Approaching fast, the gathering takes place next week, June 2nd and 3rd, at the Kathedral Event Center in Hammonton, New Jersey. The weekend gathering to include two full days of live performances, panels hosted by The Joey Zone, vendors, and more, all pertaining to Cadabra Records and the labelâs obsession in reviving the works of classic horror and weird fiction writers.
Cadabra’s vinyl records are among some of the definitive interpretations of classic and modern authors of the genre, resulting in dozens of releases to date in which richly crafted audio stories fairly leap out of the speakers and become something fully visible in the mind’s eye. Since its start in 2015, the record label has been the premiere home for adaptations of the works of Edgar Allen Poe, H. P. Lovecraft, Thomas Ligotti, Arthur Machen, and more, tracing the history of weird fiction from its inception all the way through to modern day.
Now, Cadabra invites you to the very firts NIGHTLANDS FESTIVAL, a celebration of some of the greatest weird fiction through words, music, and art. Over the course of two days, attendees can expect to see some of the greatest voice actors of the genre perform chilling tales of classic and modern horror, with each performance accompanied by a live musical score and an introduction by a scholar on the subject.
NIGHTLANDS FESTIVAL will include live performances of the works of H. P. Lovecraft (The Lurking Fear and The Dunwich Horror), Thomas Ligotti (Mrs. Rinaldi’s Angel, The Clown Puppet, This Degenerate Little Town, and I Have A Special Plan For This World), M. R. James (Count Magnus), Algernon Blackwood (The Willows), Edogawa Rampo (The Human Chair and The Caterpillar), and more to be announced. These works will be performed by a cast of stage and screen actors and musicians who regularly contribute to Cadabraâs catalog, including Andrew Leman, Laurence R. Harvey, Jon Padgett, Robert Parry Lloyd, Chris Bozzone, Slasher Film Festival Strategy, and literary scholars who will introduce these performances, S. T. Joshi and Michael Cisco.
The fest will also feature an artist alley with many of the artists who contribute their visual talents to the Cadabra titles, including Jeremy Hush, Matthew Jaffe, Dave Felton and more, as well as an array of art/music vendors. Both Cadabra Records and Chiroptera press will have many exclusives available only offered at this event.
NIGHTLANDS FESTIVAL is not only for fans of Cadabra Records, but for anyone with an appreciation of the literary horror genre. You’ve never seen anything like this.
