American producer/songwriter/musician LISTENBEE is quickly making a name for himself with his debut single “Save Me” featuring Naz Tokio. The track is burning up the web with over 3 million plays worldwide on Spotify, 600,000 plays at SoundCloud, over one million combined views on YouTube, and a rise up to number 2 of the Hype Machine charts as a result of multiple placements and high praise from respected music blogs such as The Fader–where the song and music video first premiered–Earmilk, Indie Shuffle, Stoney Roads, and others. LISTENBEE marks the second artist signed to NYC-based record label Lokal Legend, the follow-up to Kiesza and her massive worldwide hit “Hideaway.”

As “Save Me” continues its build, LISTENBEE has also turned his attention to a classic from Grammy award-winning musician Beck, giving the 2002 hit track “Lost Cause” a fresh perspective. The remix premiered today (3/9) exclusively at Indie Shuffle; check it out here. “I wanted to do a mix that stayed true to the energy of ‘Lost Cause,’” LISTENBEE explains. “Almost like an extension of the original song, picking up where Beck left off and bringing this classic song into the house world.” The timing of this release is purely coincidental as LISTENBEE’s mix was in fact completed two weeks before Beck’s recent Grammy win for Album of the Year. LISTENBEE is also putting his spin on the title track from Kiesza’s Sound of a Woman, which will debut at the end of March.

“Save Me” has also caught the attention of several acclaimed and emerging producers who have reworked the LISTENBEE original. The first “Save Me” remix released was from up and coming French producer Tez Cadey,a name rapidly becoming known in the world of great house music; Mr. Suicide Sheep was the first to unveil. The next remix to be released will come from London Bridge and it will premiere March 18 on the Mr. Deep Sense YouTube channel. Of the track, the production duo says, “Our goal with any remix is to make the song sound like what we would have made if we were the original songwriters. All we wanted to do for ‘Save Me’ was create a deeper sound while still respecting the integrity of the original. We love the song so much; it was a real joy to do this remix.” Mixes from Azincourt, Higher Self and D Silva are on tap to be released in the coming weeks. In the UK, “Save Me” has also entered The Cool Cuts, the leading tastemaker dance chart compiled from reactions from tastemaker DJs and the Cool Cuts panel. The chart is exclusively published in Music Week, the UK’s leading music industry trade publication.

With the intention to allow his music to speak for itself, LISTENBEE was not in a hurry to reveal his appearance publicly; now the elusive artist is unveiling himself in a unique way. For his first photo shoot, the Los Angeles-based producer traveled to Mississippi to shoot with world-renowned photographer Bill Steber using a wet plate camera from 1887, resulting in timeless, striking images.

The music video for “Save Me,” was filmed in Grenada and conceptualized, directed and edited by acclaimed London collective Cry\Wolf. TheFader.com dubbed the video “cinematic.” (2/28/15) The video is only the second one on the Lokal Legend YouTube channel, joining “Hideaway” which alone has racked up over 200 million views and 150,000 subscribers.

“I was inspired to create something different with the video for ‘Save Me,’” LISTENBEE explains. “I wanted the video to feel more like a short film than a music video. The song has a lot of soul and emotion and I wanted the video to reflect and amplify that feeling. It was important to me that the video come from a place of authenticity. We shot the video in Grenada, where the director grew up, using a local cast and never before filmed locations.”
