Aly & AJ, The Michalka sisters, brought their Sanctuary Tour to town last Wednesday to a standing room only Fillmore. The pop duo are also known for their TV careers. They both starred on Disney shows and released their first album “Into the Rush” in August of 2005. They released a few albums before taking a ten year pause from the music industry. In May 2019 they released their latest EP “Sanctuary” under the duo’s independent label, Aly & AJ Music LLC.
Aly appeared on IZOMBIE and AJ on the Goldbergs and Schooled. The pop duo brought a great 14 song set and a 4 song encore to The Fillmore. They performed songs from past albums and the newest album, “Sanctuary”, which is out now. To help promote both the EP and Tour, Aly & AJ did their own version of “Slow Burn,” a Kacey Musgraves song during the encore.
Aly & AJ are also well known for helping with the Trevor Project. During the show they asked for support where you can text in and help raise money. On this night, they raised $3300. One lucky person who signed the petition won a backstage pass to meet the duo. The Trevor Project is a national 24-hour toll free confidential suicide hotline for LGBTQ youth.
