March 18th, 2025 – San Francisco Bay Area darkwave duo, VAGUE LANES returns with their long-awaited second album, Divergence And Declaration.

The title, Divergence And Declaration alludes to the refinement and solidification of VAGUE LANESâ manifesto. Furthermore, the title refers to the band’s usage of a pallet more expanded than their debut album, Foundation And Divergence. With this new album, the duo displays confidence in their creative trajectory and the overall substance of their musical voice.

Lyrically, Divergence And Declaration shines light into the darker corners of the human condition. Divergence And Declaration focuses on themes of slothfulness, martyrdom, the decline of civilization, revisionists, infidelity, and depression. The track, âExoâ is the one exception as it refers to the inevitable melancholia brought out by the parent/child, mentor/mentee relationship. The album opener, “Heptahedron”, also features drums by Martin Atkins (P.I.L., Ministry, Killing Joke).

Divergence And Declaration is available on March 21, 2025 on CD and LP formats in addition to digital on all major streaming platforms including Bandcamp and Spotify.

VAGUE LANES is San Francisco Bay Area darkwave duo consisting of Bay Area music scene veterans Mike Cadoo (Gridlock, Bitcrush) and Badger McInnes (Here We Burn, After the Apex).

VAGUE LANES favors driving drum machines and sparse synth ornamentation as a backbone for their dual bass guitar amalgam. The fact that the band consists of just two bassists becomes incredulous when one learns both are left-handed. A unique, maybe even one-of-a-kind distinction: however, VAGUE LANES is no novelty. Their music features a classic post-punk ideology while adding modern detail. As a result, there is a dark, sometimes forked tongue underbelly with a juxtaposed lightness to VAGUE LANES‘ music.
