Just four months after the release of their debut album You don’t bow You will learn, the OWLiNG announce they will drop a new EP, titled Intravenous Flow, on April 24th, including two new original songs, an acoustic version of âIntravenous Flowâ and a cover song of Ozzy Osbourneâs âMama, Iâm Coming Home.â
Today the OWLiNG premieres “Speaking Stops”…
Guitarist/Vocalist KaL MichaeL saysâSilence can be deafening. Speaking Stops tells the (all too common) story of a seeming beautiful entanglement with another that swiftly ends without a word. The contrast in the asylum riot scene from the 1926 Japanese film âA Page of Madnessâ lands right in this spectrum. The sounds of the players carry in the sea of the chaos until⦠Speaking Stops.â
Drummer Art Quanstrom explainsâReleasing a music video has been on our minds for a while now, and from concept to final cut, this one just fits the song so well. There are quite a few talented, inspiring people in the OWLiNGâs orbit, and we are really lucky to have collaborators that understand the music.â
About the Director
Writer of the 2002 film Spun, Director Will De Los Santos‘ upcoming feature screenplay SPAGHETTI, produced by Chris and Roberta Hanley (American Psycho, Spring Breakers, Buffalo â66, The Virgin Suicides) and directed by Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways, The Handmaidâs Tale, American Monsters), is based on the true story of the theft and recovery of over $300 million worth of artwork by legendary artist Ed Ruscha – a recovery De Los Santos personally orchestrated.
Will De Los Santos shares about the OWLiNG
âthe OWLiNG already has such a distinct sonic identity, so my job was to match that visually. The video naturally found its tone… itâs moody, immersive, and completely in sync with the bandâs sound. It feels like one piece. Love the song! Love the fellas!”

KaL MichaeL saysâThe heart wants what the heart wants⦠But what is the path to knowing what our sincere âwantsâ are? The tracks on âIntravenous Flowâ are probably the most personal compositions I have released in my three decades of being a music creator. To the point that one of the tracks is the last voicemail I received from my late father (the beloved singer Charlie Robles) to the vulnerable acoustic version of âIntravenous Flowâ at the end. Truly an honor to share these and a reminder that the path of sincere actions is hard, but very much worth it.â
Art Quanstrom explainsâThe new songs on this EP were bound to get out eventually. We were actually working on them at the same time as You don’t bow You will learn. Eventually, they all clicked and it was only natural to get back into the studio.â

About the OWLiNG
Formed in late 2022 by guitarist/vocalist KaL MichaeL in San Francisco, the OWLiNG was born from a vision: blending slow, doomy groove with cinematic riffs, abstract poetic vocals, and a gritty â90s edge. After relocating to Hollywood, the band solidified into a powerful duo with drummer Art Quanstrom, creating a heavy yet melodic sound that feels far bigger than two people -balancing raw energy with orchestral intent.
Drawing from the spirit of Black Sabbath and the alt-metal grit of Faith No More, Melvins, Alice in Chains, and Rage Against the Machine, the OWLiNG delivers riff-driven, atmospheric music that is dark, melodic, and emotionally resonant.
High off the release of their debut album You donât bow You will learn, the OWLiNG maintains an active live presence in Los Angeles while expanding across the West Coast and throughout the U.S., appearing at select destination events and specialty festivals including SXSW.
Press says:
“You donât bow You will learn is a raw, uncompromising look at the OWLiNGâs evolving sound. The title track is technically grounded and emotionally heavy, proving the L.A. duo can command a room with nothing more than grit and a slow-burning groove.” – Velvet Noir
“The Los Angeles two-piece, guitarist/vocalist KaL MichaeL and drummer Art Quanstrom, arenât trying to reinvent metal. Theyâre just doing it the way it used to be done: loud and without a safety net.” – Velvet Noir

”This two piece Los Angeles based band is fast becoming a favorite of mine. Their sound is the perfect mix of 90âs Rock, Doom and Sludge with a very cinematic/poetic approach. the Owlingâs debut album, You donât bow You will learn, is a of righteous slab of riffs, and driving rhythms with vocals that soar. Think about driving down an open desert highway at sunset or sunrise with the windows down and this album blasting. Are you there yet? Thatâs exactly how this album feels.”
