When Children Of Bodom keyboardist Janne âWarmanâ Wirman and his guitarist brother Antti Wirman reactivated their joint band WARMEN in August 2023, nobody could have guessed what was in store. In the past, WARMEN was known more as a side project and playground for the keyboardist, but with Here For None, released via Reaper Entertainment last Summer, the band — rounded out by bassist Jyri Helko, drummer Seppo Tarvainen, and vocalist Petri Lindroos (Ensiferum) — released a breathtaking melodic death metal masterpiece and impressively followed in the footsteps of Janne’s former band.
Here For None entered the Finnish and German album charts straight away upon its first week of release and has already been streamed over a million times on Spotify alone. And now, the band presents an animated music video for one of the most popular songs from the album, âA World Of Pain.â
The fully animated video clip was created by students on the Bachelor Of Design (Animation & Interactive Media) programme at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Producers Aaron McLoughlin and Simon Norton, along with their team, spent around 3000 hours creating the video and the result is a stunning animated short film.
Comments the band, âWe’re delighted to announce that we’ve now got an animated video from RMIT University, and we have to say, it’s fantastic. It’s an incredible visual firework that matches our song, âA World Of Painâ which is probably the most brutal song on the last album. It’s always fun to play it live. Itâs very different from what we;ve ever done before. Have fun watching it!â
McLoughlin adds, “Our first impression of the track was how epic the raw emotion sounded, so we really wanted to convey that sense of scale. As always, the talented RMIT animation students never fail to impress, and they conceived this brutal off-world setting where big things occur. The concept art was so fantastic, we immediately knew we must incorporate lots of visual effects with the hand-drawn animation, much more than weâd ever done previously. Iâm super proud of the result â itâs a planet-crushing track and the team worked countless hours to visualize the power of WARMEN!”

âHere For None illustrates a quintet content to deliver neoclassical-oriented melodic death metal that is as catchy as it is progressive, not an easy feat in todayâs scene.â â Dead Rhetoric
âWith each track, WARMEN artfully navigates a diverse rollercoaster ride of an album, ensuring that Here For None not only stands as a worthy listening experience but also a testament to the bandâs enduring legacy.â â Tuonela
âGod knows thereâs plenty of Bodom worship to be found out there, and damned if there isnât a lot of really good stuff that falls under that category â but none can claim with real sincerity to be the real McCoy to the extent WARMEN can. So go ahead and raise a glass for Alexi and give this one the full blast it deserves.â â Teeth Of The Divine
ââ¦a refreshed sound that is more aggressive, (a bit) slower, and yet more cohesive and equally enjoyable⦠high-octane, technically challenging, and overall awesome.â â Infernal Masquerade
âArmed with new members, a new musical outlook, and new energy, Here For None comfortably cements the band as a force to be reckoned with and one which has the potential to create incredible music for many years to come.â â Metal Wani
