TIM MONTANA AND THE SHREDNECKSCONFIRMS OPENING SLOT ON ZZ TOP U.S. AND CANADA TOURSTARTING MARCH 22 IN YOUNGSTOWN, OH
Here comes TIM MONTANA AND THE SHREDNECKS…
The Butte, MT trio–Tim Montana (lead vocals, guitar), Bryce Paul (bass) and Brian Wolff (drums)–is getting ready to head out on a U.S. and Canada tour with fellow bearded rockers, ZZ Top starting March 22 in Youngstown, OH at the Stambaugh Auditorium Concert Hall. The trek will include a very special headlining gig of their own in Nashville on April 28 at the Wildhorse Saloon.
“I’ve been listening to ZZ Top for as long as I can remember,” MONTANA says. “ZZ Top kept me company in my childhood growing up off the grid in Montana. Taking the stage with them is a dream come true, because their music was my companion for so many years. I’m glad to call one of my heroes one of my best buds.”
As Billy Gibbons says, “We’re happy T. MONTANA AND THE SHREDNECKS have joined up with us for the ZZ Top tour of 2016. It’s a beardapalooza for sure. Seriously, TIM is the real thing — he’s a little bit country with lots of hard rocks or, maybe he’s a rocker in touch with some serious country roots. And, THE SHREDNECKS’ song ,’Weed and Whiskey’ is universal. It’s a raucous round of revelry coming on strong.”
TIM MONTANA AND THE SHREDNECKS’ latest self-titled, self-released album was released last month, which features the fan favorite, “Weed & Whiskey” (featuring Gibbons, who also co-wrote the song). It was produced by Marshall Altman (Marc Broussard, Frankie Ballard, Eric Paslay), who declared, “In a world where we’ve been told that authenticity and heart are things of the past, I’m thankful for TIM MONTANA. Working with him was about defining his heart and soul and sound, and they are all intertwined. This is American music. This is Country music. This is Rock n Roll. And that’s who Tim Montana is.”
Gibbons appears and co-wrote three other songs, including “Fifty Fifty,” “Rust In Red,” and “This Beard Came Here To Party.” The latter–written in 2013–became the unofficial anthem of the Boston Red Sox that was played during the final game of the American League Championship, as well as the first two World Series games.
Rolling Stone included the band in their “30 Best Things We Saw at CMA Music Fest 2015,” praising them for having the “Best Eminem Makeover” with a rousing rendition of “Lose Yourself”: “Eminem has yet to (and probably never will) dabble in a country-rap collaboration like Nelly or Ludacris, but TIM MONTANA AND THE SHREDNECKS were intent on bringing Twang Shady to life at CMA Music Fest, where they offered up a scorching southern-rock version of ‘Lose Yourself,’ that, by pumping out those Led Zeppelin-ripped licks, made it all feel like an unearthed Lynyrd Skynyrd track.”
In addition to playing shows with ZZ Top, TIM MONTANA AND THE SHREDNECKS has shared the stage with other music stars as Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Florida Georgia Line, Montgomery Gentry, and Lee Brice. They’ve also been making quite an impression with major players in the music industry, including songwriter Doug Johnson (George Strait, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Rogers, also serves as Vice President of A&R at Black River Entertainment (home of Kellie Pickler, Craig Morgan, Kelsea Ballerina) who proclaims, “Heart, soul and a whole lot of crunch, with no apologies. The loud truth!” While 2012 SESAC Songwriter of the Year Catt Gravitt hails, “TIM MONTANA is the real deal, Real artist, real writer and REAL person!!!”
“From a trailer in Montana with no electricity to taking the stage with my heroes and soaking up the electricity of the fans,” exclaims MONTANA, “hard work is starting to pay off and I couldn’t be happier.
About what the next year holds for you and what you would like to see happen: the sky is the limit.” Check out TIM MONTANA AND THE SHREDNECKS at any of the following tour stops:
