THE RECORD PARLOUR
—ONE-OF-A-KIND RECORD STORE OFFERS A UNIQUE LIVE MUSIC EXPERIENCE
IN THE HEART OF HOLLYWOOD—
PRELIMINARY SCHEDULE FOR RECORD STORE DAY 2015 ANNOUNCED
“The Record Parlour may not carry new vinyl, but they’ll have the original release you never thought you’d find.”
The newest and most distinguished record store to open up in Los Angeles, THE RECORD PARLOUR–located in the heart of Hollywood–offers a unique music experience. The store provides a one-of-a-kind environment with an authentic vibe: as artists perform live, they’re surrounded by over 20,000 vinyl records, vintage stereo gear and music memorabilia.
THE RECORD PARLOUR has announced the preliminary event schedule for Record Store Day 2015 starting on Friday, April 17 through Saturday, April 18 (see itinerary below).
Owned and operated by founder Chris Honetschlaeger and manager/partner Chadwick Hemus, THE RECORD PARLOUR has been building a name for itself by hosting exciting in-store showcases, from pop-up performance gigs, album playbacks and DJ sets to entire live performances recorded and transferred directly to vinyl onsite. With Chris’ background in vintage equipment and Chadwick’s pedigree as a vinyl curator for the original Amoeba (San Francisco), sound and quality reign overall. THE RECORD PARLOUR’s vintage offerings–jukeboxes, amps, microphones, ‘70s turn-tables and speakers–are refurbished to pristine condition alongside its vinyl collection which focuses on original releases verses new releases. By combining records and vintage equipment as well as creating a new home to music collecting and live music experiences, all in the heart of Hollywood, THE RECORD PARLOUR is more than a vinyl shop–it is ushering in the Hollywood renaissance.
On Saturday, April 18 in celebration of Record Store Day, THE RECORD PARLOUR will have a series of events and live performances (see schedule below). Starting Saturday at 10:30 AM, the store will kick-off Record Store Day with the debut vinyl collection from the estate of philanthropist Marshall Howard. Marshall spent 40 years of his life working on this heavily curated collection which features extremely rare original finds. Consisting primarily of Jazz but including R&B, Classic Rock, Soul, Blues, Exotica and Folk, the 5,000-piece collection will be showcased separately so everyone can appreciate the will, love and manpower needed to amass such a phenomenal vinyl collection. At 2:00 PM, author Mike E. Spitz will drop in for an in-store signing of his new book: Record Store Book: Fifty Legendary and Iconic Places to Discover New and Used Vinyl, which THE RECORD PARLOUR is featured in. Later that day, live music will launch with Isaac Rother and The Phantoms (4:00pm, www.isaacrother.com), followed by Lee Bob and The Truth (5:30pm, www.leebobandthetruth.com) and the Chicago blues of Big Jay McNeely and Rob Stone (7:30pm www.robstone.com and www.bigjaymcneely.com); more artists will be announced.
Vintage Trouble performs live at The Record Parlour.
