“You never know just how you look through other people’s eyes.” – Butthole Surfers, “Pepper”
Images move before our eyes and we choose when to capture them. For most, they are captured by memory. For photographers, we choose what parts of our subject’s essence we want to isolate to tell their story as we observe them, and that’s when we press the shutter. It is through the isolation of these moments which makes us more aware of them; this is our return on observation, and what makes us learn from our subjects.
LIVE PORTRAIT, an upcoming FREE group exhibition taking place at The Cyclorama Gallery at Soundwars Studios in Hoboken, NJ (47A Harrison St.) from September 6-8, 2019, will include the work of live music and portrait photographers Mark Weiss, Frank Veronsky, Laura DeSantis-Olsson, Gino DePinto, and Noam Galai.
The images on display will reveal moments of some of the biggest names in music history, observed and captured only through their eyes.
In addition to the photographs on display, the gallery will also feature live music of various music artists to accompany the isolated music moments on the wall.
This is a free event, and donations are welcome. The photos in the exhibition will be for sale as well as “gift shop” items in the lobby.
