Brazilian singer and guitarist Mario Rossi continues his legacy of creative, heavy blues with his fourth album, Smoke Burst, which shows he was born with the blues in his veins. He discovered his musical passion when, in 2013 and then 2015, he joined the band that accompanied the American bluesman John Primer in Brazil.They toured the Brazilian south, and did a live performance on one of the biggest TV channels in Brazil. Since then, Mario has been writing and recording blues that incorporates the vintage tones and stylistic traditions of classic blues, as well as the rock-edged sounds of his own youth in Brazil. The result has been critical acclaim from blues blogs to metal magazines.
In the USA, Mario Rossi is gaining notability. On a recent tour, he played guitar live at the Red Lion Club in Greenwich Village with David Bennett Cohen (keyboards, Country Joe & The Fish), Arthur Nielson (guitar, Shemekia Copeland), Sonny Hudson (harmonica), and Mike Muller (bass, Albert King, Luther Allison).
This new album of eight original songs is sure to expand his growing fanbase. Smoke Burst captures the best of his rough-edged but fluid guitar work and the growling intensity of his tight, virtuosic band.
