RECIDIVIST: Salt Lake City Death Metal/Hardcore Quintet Drops âMadness Malformedâ Featuring Alex Herrera Of Spinebreaker; Debut LP Out November 1st On Creator-Destructor Records

Salt Lake City, Utah-based death metal/hardcore outfit RECIDIVIST prepares to unload their debut LP, Madness Malformed, upon the public via Creator-Destructor Records. Today, the savage title track to the album featuring additional guest vocals from Alex Herrera of labelmates Spinebreaker has been unveiled.

Madness Malformed was recorded with Nic Kartchner at The Grotto, mixed by Ryan Bram at Homewrecker Studios (Gatecreeper, Terminal Nation, Morbid Visionz), mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Obituary, Nails, Full Of Hell), and completed with cover art by John Quevado Janssens. Fans of Kruelty, Terminal Nation, Tribal Gaze, 200 Stab Wounds, Sanguisugabogg, Vomit Forth, Skinless, and labelmates Spinebreaker must experience the decimation of RECIDIVIST.

Vocalist Zachary Williams declares with the release of the LPâs title track, ââMadness Malformedâ is really where the lyrical concept of the album reveals its ugly, disfigured face. Up to this point, the songs all refer to having hallucinations and visions about being placed in the middle of some of the most horrific situations I could imagine. In the title track, itâs revealed that a heinous entity is creating every one of these nightmarish scenarios, and itâs plotting to take the life of the being trapped in these situations. I also wanted the essence to speak in a different voice, so as soon as I heard the outro to the song, I knew thatâs where Alex (Spinebreaker) had to be.â

Having just shared the stage with Undeath, Kruelty, Gates To Hell, and Tribal Gaze last week, RECIDIVIST will play their hometown release show for the album on November 8th with Grave Titan and Sewn Shut. Additional live dates are to be expected.

RECIDIVIST embodies vocalist Zachary Williams, bassist Conner Smith, drummer Alex Humphries, and guitarists Andrew Margetts and Matt Wiliams. Together, they take the shape of death metalâs most relentless era while maintaining a strong emphasis on contemporary hardcore, not only in sound, but in ethos. Having shared the stage with some of the undergroundâs most prolific modern acts (Sunami, Mindforce, Kruelty, Maul) as well as a few of aggressive musicâs most esteemed groups (Suffocation, Xibalba), RECIDIVIST maintains a DIY attitude and an abrasive, unforgiving sound that strongly evokes the â90s.

Preceded by their Caverns Of The Dead debut EP in 2022, RECIDIVIST released the massive âCryptic Nightmareâ single in 2023, but their debut LP, Madness Malformed, takes the bandâs attack to new levels of decimation.

Madness Malformed is a glowing representation of contemporary death metal at its most aggressive. Merging themes from 1980s horror and 1990s composition with modern production, the LP features eight brand new tracks, and a re-recording of the âCryptic Nightmareâ single. Drums that pull no punches paired with unforgiving guitar and bass performances deliver thirty intense minutes of the hardcore/death metal hybrid that RECIDIVIST has mastered.
