Everything Is Noise is currently streaming Sacrificial Solace, the new full-length from Seattle death metal outfit NOROTH, in its vile entirety! The premiere comes in advance of the recordâs official release this Friday, June 7th on Carbonized Records.
Nearly three years since the release of their critically lauded Harbinger full-length, NOROTHâs Sacrificial Solace is a sharpening of the sounds they began with. Abandoning their more experimental approach in favor of something darker and more feral, with the addition of new drummer Jeremy (Sanctum, Condition) they homed in on a more aggressive and primal energy taking the music to new depths of sonic excess.
Comments guitarist Mike, âLyrically and musically, itâs vulgar and more sinister. You can almost smell the music. Itâs a soup of stench and darkness. And riffs you wonât forget. Taking inspiration from bands like Rottrevore, Bolt Thrower, and Dismember, every song has sledgehammer riffs that shall stand the test of time.
âI wanted to create something unique, that stands out,â he continues, âblending dark and feral riffs to create something of our own. Primitive aggressive riffs are what speak to me. I was raised on Slayer and Cannibal Corpse. When I started playing guitar around 14. I wanted to play riffs that would break your neck and not impress you with their technical prowess. In high school, I preferred to get high or laid then spend hours in my bedroom practicing scales. I guess you could say I am still the same.â
Observes Everything Is Noise, âSacrificial Solace starts with about 20 seconds of a haunting demon-voiced sample before clenching your temples with inhuman claws and forcing thought-shattering headbanging. It doesnât stop after that. There is no reprieve, only old school death metal done efficiently. Sacrificial Solace works best if you play it again, immediately afterwards, and keep on heshing.â
