REVIEW – Sweden’s DEATH PULSATION makes their presence known with a ferocious debut three-track demo, set to drop on March 7, 2025, exclusively on cassette via Caligari Records. Featuring members of Malakhim and Encryptment, the band channels a relentless, suffocating brand of death metal that feels less like a performance and more like an unholy summoning.
“Thunderous Pulse” opens with eerie, disorienting noises—like alarms blaring in a collapsing hellscape—before the band erupts into a maelstrom of jagged riffing and guttural vocals that sound as if they’re being wrenched from the depths of the abyss. “Eater of Stars” follows with an all-out onslaught of pummeling, bestial death metal, each note dripping in filth and aggression. “Death Salvation” delivers no respite—only absolute chaos and destruction, as the band drives their sound deeper into total sonic devastation.
This isn’t calculated or methodical—it’s primal, ugly, and unapologetically savage. The production is muddy and chaotic, which works for the demo’s bestial, cavernous nature but occasionally buries the impact of the riffs. There’s no experimentation, no melody—just raw aggression and primitive energy, staying true to the genre’s underground roots. DEATH PULSATION is off to a strong start, but whether they evolve beyond the murky depths of obscurity or remain another cult act in the abyss is yet to be seen.
