REVIEW – I discovered AYRIA with Flicker. The second I heard her vocals with the musicianship, I was sold. Where people praise so much into the aura of Miss Kittin, AYRIA can be seen as her evil pop step sister. When Aimee Echo wanted to take Human Waste Project into the later stages of The Start, it seems that she was motivated and inspired by what AYRIA was creating. The thing is this, whether you love, lust, like or want to kill the woman, the woman has so much punch and pizzazz into her music. Paper Dolls gives fans more of that disco industrial meets melodic and pulsating beats. This is music to fuck and fight to. Jennifer Parkin seems to be building her cult status, or underground cred by each album in her career so far. Where in the past it seems that she was lost and trying to explore her feelings and emotions, and not sure of what to make of them. This album is just focused and is such a collapse of passion and energy. This could be considered her party album, an album of nothing but dance floor or bedroom on acid songs that will stick with you long after you turn the record off.

It seems this is the first time in a while, she seems very sure of herself and does not try to push the music forcefully into places but let’s it flow naturally and has faith that people will follow along. I feel people who never gave AYRIA a fair shot before, can listen to this album and appreciate her talent and might seek out past releases. Jennifer for the music she is singing against really has such a smooth voice that compliments and not takes away from. She has a sexual vibe to her message that when hit with the electro vibe, really gives us a more modern day Missing Persons. She has a few songs on her that she changes things up and takes things in a more burlesque vibe, which is a brave and sultry move for her. It is artists like her and albums like this that makes my job so fun and exciting. I hope this is the album that brings her into the mainstream and maybe out of the shadows of other artists in this genre who do not put out the honesty and passion that she delivers with her vocals. AYRIA is the real deal, woman just does not give a shit and for that I love her. This album should not be bought and played, it should be put down on the ground and praised. What a good fun album to lift your mood up during these trying times. This one is a must buy if there ever was. I am dying to hear disc two…that could be a hint????
