MSO PR continues to expand its presence in the worlds of country, roots, and Americana–and with Nashville-based artists who reflect the musical diversity of the city which includes jam bands, rock, and indie rock (see clients below).
Drawing on experience and influence across many genres, MSO (The Mitch Schneider Organization) envisions and executes nimble media strategies that have proven invaluable to advancing the profiles of veteran artists and new acts alike, including many who are coming up from the indie world.
2017 has been an especially strong year for MSO which has maintained an office in Nashville since 2008 beyond its Los Angeles headquarters. - TIMOTHY B. SCHMIT: The groundbreaking vocalist, songwriter and bass player of the legendary rock groups Eagles and Poco is currently in the midst of a fall U.S. tour. The new round of shows follows TIMOTHY‘s sold-out solo spring tour, as well as the Classic East-West and “An Evening with the Eagles” stadium and arena shows with the Eagles. TIMOTHY and his band are performing songs spanning his entire four-decade long career including his new solo album LEAP OF FAITH (Benowen Records), described by Rolling Stone as “a soundtrack for that sort of pitch-perfect American landscape, mixing bluegrass, Cajun, rock, Seventies soul and California country…” (9/23/16). - VAN MORRISON: VAN MORRISON’s 37th studio album ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES was released September 22 on Exile/Caroline. The 15-track album was produced by VAN MORRISON and recorded with an incredible team of studio collaborators including Chris Farlowe, Georgie Fame, Jeff Beck, Paul Jones and Jason Rebello. ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES features raw, intimate interpretations of some of the cornerstones of rhythm & blues (by the likes of Bo Diddley, Mose Allison, Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Lightnin’ Hopkins, among others) alongside five new numbers from one of British music’s few true legends. - TOMMY EMMANUEL: One of the world’s most celebrated guitarists and acoustic impresarios, TOMMY EMMANUEL captured his stage-shredding performance on hallowed ground at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville with LIVE! AT THE RYMAN (CGP Sounds). Not only did Rolling Stone Countrypremiere the video for “Tall Fiddler,” but the Nashville-based artist achieved a lifelong dream by gracing the cover of Guitar Player Magazine for the first time in his illustrious career. - TOMMY EMMANUEL & DAVID GRISMAN: Esteemed guitarist TOMMY EMMANUEL joined forces with celebrated bluegrass mandolinist DAVID GRISMAN for a new collaborative album entitled PICKIN’ (Acoustic Disc) which was exclusively premiered in its entirety on RELIX.com. Not only does PICKIN’ reflect EMMANUEL’s signature classical, Americana, folk, and roots stylings, but it also artfully merges jazz rhythms, jamming, and unpredictability in the mix. ElmoreMagazine.com raved, “This is a truly extraordinary release featuring two now iconic acoustic instrumentalists. - THE JERRY DOUGLAS BAND: 14-time GRAMMY® Award winner, resonator, dobro, lap steel legend, and production powerhouse JERRY DOUGLAS unveiled his new album WHAT IF (Rounder Records) with THE JERRY DOUGLAS BAND back in August. As the album integrated rock and jazz into bluegrass and Americana, the campaign focused on ushering this Nashville-based icon across genres. Press highlights included a five-page spread in Premier Guitar magazine, a Rolling Stone Country premiere and a RELIX.com premiere. - DEE JAY SILVER: Groundbreaking DJ/remixer/producer/radio host/road warrior DEE JAY SILVER recently wrapped this year’s cross-country “They Don’t Know” Tour with Jason Aldean, his 8th tour as the country superstar’s resident DJ. As Taste of Country pointed out, “Keep an eye on Dee Jay Silver…All that energy a typical show loses between sets grows when he’s spinning hits.” 2017 has marked one of the biggest and busiest yet for the non-stop DJ, who released his self-written electronic dance music single “Made To Do” featuring vocals from Golden (aka Tyrone Carreker, singer/songwriter/producer/guitarist for Sam Hunt) earlier this year, his first independent release, followed by the self-released, digital-only Made To Do Remix Album, showcasing seven versions of the song. Additionally, the Nashville-based artist launched a line of kids clothing called Nice Nice Babies, inspired by his 14-month-old son Wake Silver Perdue, and continues to hold multiple residencies in Nashville and Las Vegas, where he was featured on the cover of Las Vegas Weekly’s Industry Weekly this past spring, and host his own weekly syndicated radio show “The Country Club with Dee Jay Silver,” among many other endeavors. - ROD MELANCON: The Louisiana-born artist tapped into a graceful and gorgeous darkness that would do William Faulkner proud on his sophomore full-length, SOUTHERN GOTHIC (Blue Elan). In addition to praise from Music Connection, Yahoo! Music, and more, he guested on the “Walking The Floor” podcast hosted by Chris Shiflett of Foo Fighters. Rolling Stone Country picked up the story, generating MELANCON‘s first piece via the outlet. MELANCON recently performed in Nashville for an official AmericanaFest showcase. - HANNAH WICKLUND & THE STEPPIN STONES: The hotly tipped Nashville-based group is fronted by 20-year-old powerhouse guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Hannah Wicklund. They’ll release their third and self-titled album on January 26, 2018 (via Strawberry Moon) produced by Sadler Vaden, guitarist for Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit. - DEAD ROCK WEST: Merging alternative, country, and rock into a distinctive brew, DEAD ROCK WEST dropped their new album MORE LOVE (Omnivore Recordings) produced by John Doe of X during August. The Los Angeles group fronted by Cindy Wasserman and Frank Lee Drennen appeared in the print edition of The Los Angeles Times as well as via an online premiere for the site beforethe record’s arrival. - CALICO THE BAND: Originators of their own “California Country” style, CALICO THE BAND uncovered their sophomore set UNDER BLUE SKIES (California Country Records) back in September. Bringing twang to Southern California, the Los Angeles-based female-fronted duo garnered praise courtesy of everyone from The Boot, The Daily Country, Mother Church Pewand That Nashville Soundto AXS and beyond. - MIRANDA LEE RICHARDS: The Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter-musician returned with her new album EXISTENTIAL BEAST (Invisible Hands Music). Featuring beautifully constructed 1970s-influenced, country-tinged psychedelia, EXISTENTIAL BEAST is available now through Invisible Hands Music (HERE). In a 10/10 review, Americana U.K. said “Existential Beast is a big, absorbing and sonically wonderful album. Miranda Lee Richards has created an image of perfection to strive for, and it is in itself perfect” (August 2017). In his 8/10 review, Bud Scoppa of UNCUT (August 2017) noted, “on her fourth LP, this second-gen bohemian ingeniously employs recreations of baroque folk and psychedelia to bring context to the songs that intimate striking parallels between the political upheavals of 1968 and 2017.” Elsewhere, Peter Lindblad of Elmore said: “Richards’ ambitious ‘Existential Beast’ finds solace in flowing melodies, lush arrangements and instrumentation, and soft harmonies aglow with a pearly luminescence” (94 point rating album review, July 2017). - BILLY BURNETTE: Sharing one unbelievable story after another, the nine-year veteran of Fleetwood Mac and the songwriter behind famous cuts by Ray Charles and Greg Allman this fall served up his memoir CRAZY LIKE ME: FROM MEMPHIS AND THE ROCK ‘N ROLL TRIO TO FLEETWOOD MAC and accompanying solo album CRAZY LIKE ME (Rock & Roll With It Records). Among many recent media highlights, Glide Magazine premiered his take on “Oh Well” while Elmore Magazine premiered “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind?” and BestClassicBands praised the album with a premiere of “Tear It Up.” Recently, the Nashville-based artist visited FOX-17 TV in Nashville for a segment on his current projects.For more information on BILLY BURNETTE, click here.
- CROUSE: The Nashville-based singer, songwriter and guitarist recently teamed with AXS to debut the lyric video for their new self-released single “Paranoid.” The song, which taps into the modern anxiety and chaos in the world, is the first release from CROUSE–the moniker of the 25-year-old Joel Crouse–who’s returned to his rock roots after releasing a country album in 2014 opening on the road for Taylor Swift (her “Red” tour) and Darius Rucker. CROUSE made their debut in Los Angeles at the packed Hotel Café, with Hits Daily Double on hand noting “…CROUSE performed a rock-solid set featuring his latest single ‘Paranoid’…” (9/22). - RYAN SIMS: The Arizona-based singer, songwriter and country-rock-Americana artist will release a new seven-track EP MY SIDE OF THE STORY (High 4 Recordings) on November 17. The lead single “Get Away” immediately caught the attention of The Daily Country which raved that “…the instantly infectious ‘Get Away’ is built on a dynamic backbeat and driving guitars that, alongside Sims’ distinctly weathered vocals, encourage hitting that open road, escaping life’s struggles, and expanding your horizons.” The just-released music video, directed by Mike Rhodes, has already received over 104,000 plays.
