NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 21, 2022) – Memories of Honor, a 501c3 nonprofit based in Nashville has announced two upcoming 5K events which will pay tribute to the sacrifices made by our fallen military service members and their families.
âWe believe our fallen service members and their families deserve to be honored and remembered not just on Memorial Day, but every day,â said Amy Cotta, founder of Memories of Honor. âOur mission is to make every day Memorial Day by creating living, breathing memorials so no life loss as a result of serving our country goes forgotten.â
On April 2 at 9:00a CT, the Tour De Hawkins 5K will take place at Vanderbilt University as a part of the VandyBoysâ Military Appreciation Weekend when they take on in-state rival University of Tennessee.Â
Lace up your tennis shoes and get ready to take a trip around Hawkins Field along with other Vanderbilt Athletics venues for this first-ever event. It will be an awesome way for anyone in the community to show their patriotism and support for those who have or continue to serve our country. It will also give an opportunity to run through several of the athletic facilities on Vanderbilt Universityâs campus, providing a 5K experience like none other. Facilities in the course include Hawkins Field, Vanderbilt Stadium, Outdoor Track & Field Complex, Soccer & Lacrosse Complex.Â
The event is produced by Vanderbilt Athletics and benefiting Nashville based military Gold Star family nonprofit, Memories of Honor. To register or for more information, visit salutetoservice5k.com.Â
On May 21 at 9:00am CT, the 7th annual Honor the Fallen 5K will take place at The Grove, in College Grove, Tennessee. Situated between Mother’s Day weekend and Memorial Day weekend, there is no better time to cover the families of our Nation’s heroes in our love and gratitude.Â
More than “just another” 5K, the HTF5K is a family-friendly, pet-friendly community event where friends of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities join in unity to show their love and support to our families of our Nation’s fallen heroes. And also to pay their respects to our military members and first responders, both past and present.
HTF5K uniquely fosters patriotism and gratitude where participants wear a Fallen Hero Memorial Bib containing the name of a fallen US service member. Many of the families of the fallen are on hand to meet the participants. To register or for more information, visit honorthefallen5k.com.
