Slipknot brought their annual Knotfest Roadshow to the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas Texas. Along with them for the ride was scream kings Ice Nine Kills and local boys in Crown the Empire. 3 of my favorite bands under 1 roof. What could be better?
First up was the Crown the Empire. After a widely successful headlining tour doing the entire “The Fallout” album, the boys joined a massive tour here. Sadly they didn’t play a super long set but they did pull out all the bangers. Hitting “In Another Life” first followed by “Sudden Sky” and “Zero”. The guys brought to the home town and really showed why they are getting out there the way they are.
Next up was the Scream Kings, Ice Nine Kills. If you’re not familiar with INK and the style of music, well 1 where the hell have you been. 2. Open your spotify now and start listening. Their songs are based off of horror movies. I am a HUGE horror buff so these guys are everything I could want from a band. Coming off of an amazing year so far. Opening a few dates with Metallica, Trinity of Terror Tour Part 2, an overseas tour as well. These guys are on a warpath.
Opening the show a little different than usual with “Funeral Derangements“. I was so excited and singing every word. Followed by “Wurst Vacation” and my personal favorite song “Hip To Be Scared“. another shorter set than I was expecting but again, every song is a hit!! You HAVE to check out an Ice Nine Kills show ASAP!!
Last up and absolutely certainly not least was the almighty Slipknot. These guys are such an amazing spectacle to watch and photograph. With a giant canvas with Slipknot across the front covering the stage. everyone was anxious for the maniacs to take the stage. As “Get Behind Me Satan and Push” played over the speakers, as it starts cutting out and “Disasterpiece” starts being played, a huge explosion then the curtain drops and the maggots step forward. Hitting hard, fast, and heavy. Following was an old favorite “Wait and Bleed“. The fire starts up during “Wait and Bleed“. Corey Taylor talked to the crowd a bit and prepared them for “All Out Life“. The pyro was VERY heavy during this song. After a few more songs they played their newest hit “The Dying Song” from the new album “The End, So Far” They “ended” their night with the ever popular “Spit It Out“. I always love to watch Corey take control in the breakdown of the song and have everyone in the crowd kneel down until he says to “jump the fuck up”. An absolute sight to see. 2 encore songs later and the show is over. What a way to end the night with “People = Shit” and “Surfacing“
