GHOST have been engaged in a fierce bidding battle, although somewhat incognito. One may assume that the nameless occult rockers might sign with a record label more suited to their market, such as Metal Blade or Roadrunner Records, but instead they chose Seven Four Entertainment. Many listeners are unaware of Seven Four Entertainment, that’s because GHOST is the first group to sign with the label, which was founded by longtime Warner Bros. executive Tom Whalley.
According to rumors, the band received a substantial advance of $750,000. This also raises the question of what will happen if the next GHOST record fails to return all of the expenses.
The Swedish rockers would have to find a new label, as large labels aren’t particularly lenient towards metal bands, particularly after a bad record. Having said that, as the label’s first signee, I’m confident that every effort will be made to guarantee that the money invested is returned.
Do you believe the relocation to Seven Four Entertainment is a wise decision? Or, might GHOST have sought refuge with a metal label such as Metal Blade, which released their debut album ‘Opus Eponymous‘ in the United States?
