Oakland, California-based metallic hardcore/thrash outfit DOOMSDAY today surprises fans with the unannounced digital release of an eponymous new EP through Creator-Destructor Records.
Formed in 2018, DOOMSDAY includes members from different parts of the Bay Area metal and hardcore scene. Drawing influence from the likes of Sepultura, Slayer, Iron Age, Metallica, and Power Trip, the band boasts a triple-guitar threat within their lineup. Following several demos and singles and heavy live attacks throughout the Bay Area and beyond, the band bulldozed into the international spotlight with the 2022 release of their Depictions Of Chaos EP.
Following the release of Depictions Of Chaos, DOOMSDAY ripped across the West Coast, touring with the likes of Upon Stone, Extinguish, Mutually Assured Destruction, Darkness Everywhere, and more, honing their already deadly craft to incinerating new levels of precision and aggression, which now shows through on the succinct slam of their eponymous new EP.
Doomsday was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Zack Ohren at Sharkbite Studios, and completed with artwork by Ridge Rhine. The EP drops three new tracks and a cover of the Metallica classic âTrapped Under Iceâ on the digital version.
DOOMSDAY vocalist Carlos Velazquez states on the release of Doomsday, âWeâre beyond grateful that we get to keep doing this. Being in a band with my boys has got to be the greatest feeling ever. The whole point of this new record is to show our influences proudly; weâre always spinning Slayer, weâre always spinning Iron Age, and we wanted to be on our Baltimore Pulling Teeth shit. But beyond that I feel like weâre finally getting âit.â We know what direction we want to go, and thatâs just to do whatever the hell we want. We want to do thirty-second melt-your-face songs. We want to write nine-minute epics. We just want to have fun doing what we love.â
