BANGLADEAFY is drummer Atif Haq and keyboardist/vocalist Jon Ehlers. The band released their fourth album, Housefly, through Nefarious Industries in September 2020. Inspired by the human manipulation of electronic sounds, Housefly delivers thirteen anxiety-ridden compositions performed live on hardware synths, sample pads, and acoustic drums, and entirely abandons the electric bass acrobatics the tag team has become known for. The album sees BANGLADEAFY revisiting influences of their youth such as Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, and Devo. Marking a development in the bandâs philosophy and approach to songwriting, particularly in the vocal department, Housefly embraces more personal lyricism and an uncharacteristically up-front vocal presence. In 2020, BANGLADEAFY have freed themselves of all expectation and restraint â now, anything goes.
Housefly was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Jonathan Vergara of Pancake Studios, with the drums recorded and mixed by Mike Gatto of Gatto Records, and completed with artwork by Bryan Elkins.
Find BANGLADEAFYâs Housefly and watch their intense âHarvest,â âTar,â and âBloomâ videos at Nefarious Industries HERE.
BANGLADEAFY is currently writing the follow-up to Housefly, with details to post in the months ahead.
ââ¦filters the bandâs ear for riffy, off-the-wall compositions through Skinny Puppy, Nine Inch Nails, and Devo. It has both a cinematic and tribal feelingâ¦â â Decibel Magazine
ââ¦a vinyl consuming, part-nightmare part-wet dream tech metal experience that is as tight in its charges as it is maniacally loose in its concepts. Prickly drums and mercurial synths mesh and clash propelled by violent rhythms. Electronic effects scream and undulate like an ambulance siren, then pierce the night sky on the back of digging bass lines.â â PopMatters
ââ¦one of extreme musicâs most innovative and original acts today⦠a detonation of popcorn percussions, anxious bass, and retro, menacing synths. Itâs like an aggressive acid trip given aural form â and the accompanying visualizer is appropriately trippy, too.â â MetalSucks
âThere is an infectious energy in the duoâs performance overall, and one can only imagine all the bodies that will hit the floor when they can take this chaotic, jazz noise to a live setting. Until then try wrapping your head around Housefly. It moves pretty fast, and if you do not stop and focus once it is playing, you could miss the magic BANGLADEAFY weave on it.â â Everything Is Noise
