REVIEW – New Jersey-based psychedelic rock band, Aura Blaze, comes at us with a new album titled The Sparkling Black. Solely produced and performed by Rhode Rachel has provided a 1960s transcending experience in 9 new songs.

The first song “Overture: Solar Emerge” with a psychedelic bouncy tone. The song starts off at a slow simmering pace before jumping into a story like feel.

“Good While It Lasted” continues the faster paced tone reminiscent of The Beatles. The steady pace of the drums provides a very playful setting in the backdrop. The guitar and organ add a hook that make the song even more enjoyable.

“Eye of the Rising Sun” begins with a narration, before delving into an outer space like sound with guitars and drum percussion adding to the experience.

“Manipulation” featuring Bjorn Strid is a rock infused song that features more on the rock sound and less on the psychedelic front. With searing vocals and guitar/drums, this song is a must for any rock fan.

“Hope It All Works Out” showcases keyboards and Rachel’s’ layered voice on a beautiful ballad that is often engaging and quite endearing for the listener to experience. Talking about working through the hard times and heartbreak throughout the song is a topic anyone can relate to.

The title track “The Sparkling Black” is a more psychedelic 1960s type of garage rock sound. This song brings a depth to the listener to appreciate the intricate sounds of organs, vocals, guitar, and all that comes together to make this album.

Overall The Sparkling Black is a great addition to any collection of the music listener looking to get outside of their comfort zone or any lover of psychedelic rock.
