Sacramento, California-based dark hardcore outfit WILL HAVEN celebrates thirty years as a band with the release of the vinyl-exclusive retrospective LP, No Stars To Guide Me: 30 Years Of WHVN, set for release December 6th on Minus Head Records.
No Stars To Guide Me: 30 Years Of WHVN is a collection that spans WILL HAVEN’s ongoing lifecycle, collecting tracks from each of their records. It includes the tracks “Choke” from Will Haven, “I’ve Seen My Fate” from El Diablo, “Fresno” from WHVN, a new Eric Stenman studio mix of “Carpe Diem” from Carpe Diem, “Sammy Davis Jr’s One Good Eye” from The Hierophant, “When The Walls Close In” from Voir Dire, “Soul Leach” from Open The Mind To Discomfort, and “Hewed With The Brand” from Muerte, “No Stars To Guide Me” from their newest album VII.
Additionally, the record closes with the brand new single, “KIRE,” which has been unveiled with the news of the LP. Guitarist Jeff Irwin states, “As we approach thirty years of WILL HAVEN, we had a lot of fun looking back at memories and music we created over the years. ‘KIRE’ was inspired soon after our last release while thinking of ways to continue expanding on the WILL HAVEN sound. This song acts as a good bridge between the new and old material. Even as an original member of the band, I have no idea how our sound will continue to evolve from here on out, and I am excited about that.”
“KIRE” was produced by Joe Johnston and WILL HAVEN and mixed and mastered by Eric Stenman.

WILL HAVEN’s seventh LP, VII was released in the Summer of 2023 to widespread praise from media and fans alike. Recorded and engineered by Joe Johnston at Pus Cavern (Deftones, Dance Gavin Dance, Hoods), produced and mixed by Joe Johnston and WILL HAVEN, and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music, VII surges with some of the band’s heaviest and darkest material to date, taking longtime fans back to their earliest records, while expanding on the atmospheric and immersive qualities of the band’s sound. The band toured the West and East Coasts of the US including sets at Crucialfest, Furnace Fest, and more, and toured across the UK and parts of Europe in support of the record.
Following the release of VII, this year the band took fans back to the days of their prior band, Sock, and released the band’s cult solitary album, 3243. Sock’s members would go on to form Far, Crosses, and of course WILL HAVEN.
WILL HAVEN is currently in the studio, recording the follow-up to VII, which will be completed for release via Minus Head in 2025. Watch for additional studio and live updates from the band to post over the months ahead.
“WILL HAVEN never dropped below a constant level of excellence… Their best album yet? What the hell… Yeah, it is.” – Decibel Magazine
“…shows why their peers hold the cult heroes in such high esteem: Dense and dynamic… Devilish stuff.” – Revolver Magazine
“Pick a band. Any band… they still won’t be capable of conjuring the profane noise that WILL HAVEN have perfected for over a quarter of a century. The latest irrefutable evidence of this arrives with their stunning new outing VII. Welcome to the antithesis of easy listening, folks.” – Kerrang Magazine
“…there is no room for fucking around on VII. These songs are uniformly short, snappy and savage, and WILL HAVEN sound as engaged, enraged and fired up as they did back in ’97… This is the sound of true originals on top form.” – Blabbermouth
“Ultimately, WILL HAVEN have never needed any help to sound absolutely massive, and yet as they continue to push at the limits of their sound, somehow they’ve grown even bigger on VII.” – Distorted Sound
