2015 is already looking to be a big year for STS9. The acclaimed instrumental electronic rock band—who will kick off the new year in Denver with four nights at the Fillmore Auditorium–have announced multiple night runs in Aspen, Chicago and Athens for February and March.

President’s Day weekend will find the Santa Cruz, CA-based quintet (formed in Atlanta 15 years ago) in the western Colorado mountains for three nights at the Belly Up in Aspen, CO February 13, 14 and 15. Next, the band will head to Chicago for three nights at the House of Blues March 5, 6 and 7. Lastly, STS9 will bring it back to where it all started and hit the Georgia Theatre in Athens, GA for three nights March 19, 20 and 21. Three-day fan club tickets go on sale today Thursday, December 18 at 12pm noon local time exclusively at www.sts9store.com. Remaining tickets, including single day tickets, will be available to the public on Friday, December 19 at 12pm noon local time. On sale times are local to the city the venue is located in (MST for Aspen, CST for Chicago and EST for Athens).

These multiple city residencies will follow the band’s initial run of the year when they take over the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO for four nights starting New Year’s Eve Wednesday, December 31 and wrapping Saturday, January 3. Their New Year’s Day show on Thursday, January 1 is an already sold-out charity event benefiting Conscious Alliance featuring a deluxe dinner prepared by Chef Ed Kammerer of Denver’s Highland Pacific Restaurant in addition to an intimate and unique set of STS9 music. More info on Conscious Alliance can be found here. A limited number of tickets are still available—including a three-day ticket for all shows excluding January 1–at www.livenation.com.

In addition to their own headlining shows, STS9 is also excited to announce they’ll be performing at next year’s BUKU Music + Art Project in New Orleans, LA (March 14-15) and Summer Camp Music Festival in Chillicothe, IL (May 22-24). See below for the full list of the band’s upcoming tour dates.

STS9Hunter Brown (guitar/sequences), Jeffree Lerner (percussion), David Phipps (keyboards/synths), Zach Velmer (drums) and Alana Rocklin (bass)—recently wrapped their 25-date “Autumn Tour 2014” to rave reviews. Using the latest cutting-edge sound and lighting, the band is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to delivering one of the most visually stunning shows on the road today featuring the band’s largest production rig ever. As Ali Kramen of Sensible Reason noted, “the light show was phenomenal. Credit is surely due to lighting designer Saxton Waller, who orchestrated gorgeously geometric and perfectly timed displays that were stellar to say the least” (10-20-14). Jack Smith from No Country for New Nashville wrote, “while the music prowess of STS9 was definitely the highlight of the evening, it’s definitely worth mentioning the lighting rig the band brought along. The auditorium appeared dazzling while bathed in ample lighting, and it was definitely one of the more advanced lighting rigs we’ve ever seen toured” (11-3-14). Simply put, Cassidy Maley from GratefulWeb.com called the show “a night of intoxicating music” (10-16-14).

See more critical praise from STS9’s Autumn Tour:

“Seldom does a band ‘reinventing’ itself lead to such overwhelmingly positive results…STS9 seems to have quickly regained a commanding presence as a musical force to be reckoned with. The band took the stage at the repurposed church-turned-music venue, underneath STS9’s largest, and perhaps most impressive, production rig to date. With no projections or those sometimes-distracting platform LED’s filling the stage, all-star lighting designer Saxton Waller once again illuminated the special space from the floor to the very high ceilings, adding an essential and visually stunning accent to the impeccably performed night of music.” –Wesley Hodges, JAMBANDS.COM, 11-6-14

“It was no surprise that Sound Tribe Sector 9 brought an immeasurable energy to their hometown throwdown in Atlanta. Playing two nights at one of the nation’s most iconic and historic venues, The Tabernacle, the group transformed the retired church cathedral into a dazzling display of sights and sounds.” –Julian Rodriguez, ELECTRONIC CURRENT, 11-5-14

“The funk-filled dance party that went down in the Steel City this past Friday left only one impression: it’s a whole new era for Tribe…the light show was phenomenal. Credit is surely due to lighting designer Saxton Waller, who orchestrated gorgeously geometric and perfectly timed displays that were stellar to say the least. Particularly notable were the numerous disco balls lining the lighting rigs hanging over the band – Waller hit the disco balls with his lights at just the right times, resulting in a colorful explosion that was at times almost too much for the brain to handle…If I had any question as to whether I would like the newest manifestation of Sound Tribe Sector 9, the band’s show in Pittsburgh left me with no doubts. I liked Tribe before, but this? I love it. I love everything about it.” –Ali Kramen, SENSIBLE REASON, 10-20-14

“STS9 brought their best menu du jour packed with savory bold flavors, palate quenching rarities, topped with an assortment of desserts…STS9 2.0 rekindled my appreciation for their music and live performance. The band played two sets along with an encore and didn’t lose the crowd for a second – captivating to say the least.” –Kevin Tshiamala, SOUND & SILENCE, 10-14-14

“Sound Tribe delivered with over 3 hours of spectacular tunes spread over two sets…Sound Tribe is one of the best-loved bands I’ve encountered, appealing to fans of both electronic and jam-band genres…Their first set was impeccably executed, dramatic builds playing off of brief moments of respite as the genres harkened to everything from funk to disco. Lights danced across the crowd, providing the perfect accompaniment to music straight from Sector 9. Very few artists are able to open up another sort of space, one where time ceases its rapid flow-and STS9 fit squarely within that category.” –Adam DeGree, ELECTROJAMS.COM, 11-22-14

“[STS9] have tested and explored new boundaries throughout their history, taken chances, stumbled along the way, but have succeeded more often than not in defining themselves as a collective coming together as one whole. Their live show is direct evidence of that, a group acting as one cohesive unit that doesn’t rely on extended solos from any one member to carry the music; this is a true collective, and one that is able to pull the very best out of each member through the ability to create music that is beautiful, inspirational, evocative, and sexy.” –Chris Meyer, LIVE FOR LIVE MUSIC, 10-19-14

“STS9 is electronic music for adults (and kids that are very mature for their age). Using live instrumentation to blend elements of electronic with the relaxed feel of post-rock music, STS9 forgoes the typical solo work found in a lot of jam bands and forms one cohesive sound, carrying the listener on their backs into the unknown…STS9’s varied lighting design fits phenomenally with their music. Somehow they’re able to present unique and awe-inspiring lighting without being so overbearing that it detracts from their sound and that’s a fine line to walk in this day and age…Offering ‘Grizzly’ and ‘Baraka’ for their encore, it became clear that no other group on the planet can so effortlessly produce such amazing music…STS9 can be a vessel to lose yourself in thought, dance out your troubles, or simply appreciate what incredible musicianship lies before you. In a world where so many buttons are pressed at concerts, it’s inspiring to see and listen to five musicians creating music in real-time that is on the very cusp of what it means to jam in the 21st century.” –Thomas Scaggs, MAINE MUSIC NEWS, 10-19-14

“The nice thing about a STS9 show is you never know what to expect. The band has an extensive catalog of their own music in addition to their penchant for covering songs by other artists, and there is never any way of knowing what song they’ll play next. We don’t know when and where we’ll get to see STS9 play next, but we know it will be a performance filled with sweet tunes, killer lights, and great vibes.” –David Miller, INDEPENDENT PHILLY, 10-20-14

“By far the highlight of this year’s Halloween was catching infamous electronic influenced jam act STS9. The Atlanta based five piece brought the funk, delivering an upbeat and danceable set that drove the audience wild…music-wise, the instrumental act put together a set featuring both originals and covers, linked together by a common theme of dance and extended solos. From start to finish, the band didn’t even bother with slow tunes, jumping right into their more upbeat songs and staying there the entire time…While the musical prowess of STS9 was definitely the highlight of the evening, it’s definitely worth mentioning the lighting rig the band brought along. The auditorium appeared dazzling while bathed in the ample lighting, and it was definitely one of the more advanced lighting rigs we’ve ever seen toured.” –Jack Smith, NO COUNTRY FOR NEW NASHVILLE, 11-3-14

“From the time the lights went down to the last note played, STS9 took us for an instrumental joy ride. Their stage lighting was the best set up I’ve seen at this venue, sealing the deal on the whole experience.” –Jessica Brasher, BHAM ROCKS, 11-2-14

the quintet lived up to all expectations and, in some ways, exceeded them…In short, STS9 won me over before their first set was halfway through…If a band – especially those of the so-called jam band flavor – are to be judged at all, it should be on musical passion, willingness to take risks and, most of all, the ‘vibe’ emitted from the stage or connection with their fans. In each category, STS9 passes the test with flying colors. What impresses me about STS9 is not just their musical proficiency, but their ability to blend electronic and organic elements without giving in to gimmickry. This is a cohesive unit that produces a sonic landscape that checks every box for the listener. No singing or vocals are needed; the five musicians know their terrain, are obviously comfortably with their road map, and navigate each twist and turn of the music with a collective third eye wide open.” –Christopher Davis, CURRENTLAND, November 2014

“The band is absolutely on fire…an absolutely incredible night of music…overall, the night was beyond my expectations. The addition of Alana Rocklin has breathed new life into an almost 20-year legacy, and the entire band seems to feel the same way…Here’s to many more years of STS9!” –Randy Harris, LIVE MUSIC DAILY, 11-10-14

“A Friday night New York City show located in Times Square is the stage of all stages, and STS9 thrived in the occasion. Beginning with Alana on the stand-up bass, it was clear that this would be a night that celebrates the roots of Sound Tribe as much as it indulges in Sector 9…Tribe is better than I’ve ever seen ‘em” –Chris Tart, DUBERA.COM, 10-20-14

“As their successful show on Friday, October 16th at Best Buy Theater in New York indicates, their performances never fail to amaze whether it is your first or hundredth time seeing them live…the light show blew everyone away…for nearly three hours, Sound Tribe played seamlessly with high spirits, only resting for the brief set break in between…All five members of the band onstage worked hard and exuded vibrant energy throughout the entire length of the set.’ –Gloria Lee, QROMAG.COM, 10-19-14

“One of the most wonderful things about seeing STS9 live is that no matter how many times you see them it is never the same show…STS9 will continue to mesmerize and keep everyone dancing. It is a show that no matter how many times you see it, you’ll be coming back for more.” –Dana Pacifico, WE ALL WANT SOMEONE, 10-20-14

About STS9:
Since forming in Atlanta 15 years ago, STS9 has risen to the forefront of the international music scene. Consistently ranked among Pollstar’s list of top-grossing touring acts, the quintet has sold out the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre (recently completing their 11th consecutive year headlining the famed venue), headlined stages at the country’s biggest music festivals, sold out shows across the country as an acoustic set-up in opera houses or as an electronic act in amphitheatres and have raised significant amounts of money towards activism efforts (including $150,000 to the Make It Right Foundation, paving the way to rebuild a house in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans). STS9 also runs their own record label, 1320 Records, whose goal is to bring the music to the people in the most conscious, unique, innovative and savvy ways possible to lessen the distance between artists and fans. The band’s latest studio EP and eleventh album in their full discography, When The Dust Settles, debuted at #1 on the iTunes Electronic Chart and landed them in Billboard’s Top 25 album chart.
