The progressive rock band from Alicante, Spain THE FLYING CARAVAN has signed a contract with the Italian record label Wormholedeath to re-release their double album ‘I Just Wanna Break Even’, recorded in 2021.
The influence of classic bands like Camel, Pink Floyd, Kansas, Be Bop Deluxe and new progs bands like The Flower Kings, Karmakanic, and Transatlantic, and musicians such as Roine Stolt, Neal Morse, and Jonas Reingold become evident with the sounds of progressive and classic rock being present throughout the six tracks of the record and thus creating the proper atmosphere for the development of the THE FLYING CARAVAN´s music.
THE FLYING CARAVAN has received very positive reviews for their recording debut on several specialized websites, being broadcasted on worldwide radio stations and appearing in many “2021 best album” lists.
THE FLYING CARAVAN, led by guitarist Antonio Valiente, has undergone changes in its original formation. New singer Julia Novecento and keyboardist José Hernández have recently joined the band. Drummer Lluis Mas and bass player Pedro Pablo Molina continue in the band from the beginning. At the moment, the group is adding the final touches to new themes that will form part of their new record.
Antonio Valiente
Born in Alicante in 1970, Antonio began playing the guitar at the age of 13, counting on Mark Knopfler as his main musical influence and assimilating fingerpicking for his style.
Since he was 18 years old, he has been studying technique and modern harmony with different guitar teachers. As an avid record collector, he devours all the bands and styles that fall into his ear.
With his first group Yeomen, they arrive in ´91, the first live performances and the influences of the Progressive Rock of groups like; Camel, Jethro Tull, Kansas, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Yes and musicians like Andy Latimer, Martin Barre, David Gilmour or Bill Nelson.
He is one of the founding members of the Numen group in 1992, with whom he recorded two albums; “Samsara” (1998) and “Numenclature” (2014), and the DVD “Numenclature-A Progressive Journey”.
Since the year 2000 he has been a member of groups such as; Malatesta Bier Band, Whiskey with Yoda, The Worms and Kamikaze Sound Express, with whom she has played a multitude of styles.
The Flying Caravan – “I Just Wanna Break Even”
From that year on, he focused on the idea of developing his own compositions to record a double disc. It is in 2004, when Juanjo Sánchez (Keyboards) , joins the project, which will end up being The Flying Caravan.
But it will not take shape until 2014, with the entry of Izaga Plata (Voice), when in collaboration with Antonio the melodies for the voice and the lyrics of the album are developed.
With the arrival of Pedro Pablo Molina (Bassist), Lluís Mas (Drums) and Juanjo’s return to the group, the project was consolidated. THE FLYING CARAVAN recorded their first double album ‘I Just Wanna Break Even’ between May and August 2017 in Altea (Alicante), with the help of some good friends and great musicians.
The recording of the album was made in the studio of the Miguel Hernández de Altea University with Daniel Montiel as sound engineer, the mixing and mastering with Lluís Mas in his studio in Alicante, and the production of the double album was carried out by Antonio Valiente. and Lluís Mas jointly.
The album cover was created by the talented artist Mario Domnguez.
With a production that lasted two years, in which keyboards and percussion were added, the album was released on January 11, 2021, and displaying the collaboration of Manolo Salido (sax), Juan Carlos Aracil (flute), and Jorge Aniorte (vocals)
The influences of groups such as The Flower Kings, Karmakanic, Transatlantic, Be Bop Deluxe and musicians such as Roine Stolt, Neal Morse and Jonas Reingold, are evident, with the sounds of Progressive Rock and Classic Rock present throughout the six songs from the album and creating the right atmosphere for the development of their music.
THE FLYING CARAVAN‘s double album ‘I Just Wanna Break Even’ has earned rave reviews and widespread recognition on the progressive rock radio circuit, ranking the album among the finest albums produced in 2021 for several radio programs, fanzines, and specialist websites.
THE FLYING CARAVAN, led by guitarist Antonio Valiente, has undergone changes to its lineup since its inception. Founding members Izaga Plata and Juanjo Sánchez were forced to leave the group due to their inability to juggle work and band obligations. In December of 2021, Julia Novecento joined the group as a vocalist and keyboardist in preparation for the 2023 release of a new album featuring her original compositions. In July of 2022, José Antonio Hernández would become the new keyboardist for the group. Founding members drummer Lluis Mas and the bassist Pedro Pablo Molina continue with THE FLYING CARAVAN.
