NOTHING MORE Bring ‘The Truth Tour’ to South Side Ballroom

NOTHING MORE brought THE TRUTH TOUR to the South Side Ballroom in Dallas Texas. Accompanied by PALISADES, BADFLOWER AND OF MICE AND MEN. Kicking off the show was PALISADES, an American post-hardcore band from Iselin, New Jersey. Opening the show with tons of energy. This is my second time covering them live and they didn’t disappoint. Vocalist Louis Miceli Jr. is a very energetic frontman. Making sure the crowd is involved in every song.

Next up was BADFLOWER,  an American rock band founded in Los Angeles, California. The band is composed of singer/guitarist Josh Katz, lead guitarist Joey Morrow, bass guitarist Alex Espiritu and drummer Anthony Sonetti. Talk about energy…these guys took the energy PALISADES brought and turned it up. I wasn’t as familiar with them as I was the other bands so I didn’t really know what to expect. Everyone on stage was jumping around, interacting with the crowd and just having a blast. This is a band I would love to see again. They gained a fan in me as well as plenty other I’m sure.

OF MICE AND MEN was up next. If you’re not familiar with them they are an American metalcore band from Orange County, California. The band’s lineup currently consists of lead vocalist and bassist Aaron Pauley, lead guitarist Phil Manansala, rhythm guitarist Alan Ashby, and drummer Valentino Arteaga. I have to admit I didn’t know that former Lead Vocalist and founding member of the band, AUSTIN CARLILE, had left the band due to health reasons. So sad to hear but that didn’t stop them from killing the show. They didn’t miss a beat and though Carlile was missed by many it was an amazing show and AARON PAULEY was amazing on vocals on some of the older songs as well. If you are ever worried about them not sounding the same or worried they’re not “as good” without CARLILE, you would be greatly pleased with just how great they still are.

Now the band that brought this all together and TEXAS NATIVES, NOTHING MORE, were up next. A white curtain was lifting in front of the stage, then the lights went down and back lighting was placed. Silhouettes of the members were seen on the white curtain. The first note hits and the curtain falls. You see VOCALIST JONNY HAWKINS on a steampunk looking ladder at least 15 feet in the air, if not higher. Swinging back and forth. He comes down and it seems as if he feeds off of the crowds energy. Not missing a single moment to interact with the crowd. Especially since this is a “local” crowd this was a great sight to see. A few songs in we see JONNY HAWKINS play a big bass drum set up where the ladder from the beginning of the show was at. I have to say this one one of the most energetic and fun shows I have been to in a long long time. I would gladly go see any of these bands again.
