REVIEW – Italy’s own power metal pranksters TRICK OR TREAT are back with their most creatively unhinged release to date—‘Ghosted’—set to drop April 25, 2025 via Scarlet Records. Blending their trademark happy metal flair with horror movie nods, video game nostalgia, and theatrical storytelling, this eleven-track tunnel of terror is as catchy as it is chaotic.
The album opens with “Lost In the Haunted House”, a short eerie intro that sets the mood like a fog-covered graveyard at midnight. Then “Craven Road” explodes with crunchy riffs, blazing solos, and Alle Conti’s unmistakable voice channeling the spirit of Dylan Dog straight into your ears. “Bloodmoon” drifts into darker territory, pulling you into a shadowy, melodic dreamscape.
The title track “Ghosted” is a power metal showstopper—searing leads, pounding drums, thundering bass, majestic keys, and one hell of a vocal performance. The fun continues with “Dance With The Dancing Clown”, an infectious track that will have horror fans and metalheads alike rocking all night long. “Polybius” takes things in a synth-driven, emotionally rich direction that sends chills down your spine.
“Evil Dead Never Sleeps” is a ripping tribute to Army of Darkness—pure fist-pumping, headbanging glory from start to finish. Then we’re transported to the Caribbean in “Return To Monkey Island”, a playful, musically adventurous homage to the legendary video game franchise that’s as entertaining as it is imaginative.
“Make A Difference” kicks in with scorching leads and high-octane energy, blending crunchy riffs, thunderous percussion, and razor-sharp vocal hooks. “The 13th” brings cinematic terror to the stage with a huge chorus and an arena-worthy atmosphere. Finally, “Bitter Dreams” wraps the experience in layers of emotion and dread, a sprawling 7-minute epic that tips its hat to A Nightmare on Elm Street with chilling grace.
Produced by Simone Mularoni and featuring guest appearances from Chris Bowes (Alestorm) and Adrienne Cowan (Avantasia, Seven Spires), ‘Ghosted’ is a genre-blending horror-metal rollercoaster that hits hard and haunts you long after the final note fades.
