REVIEW – Rock powerhouse PHIL X & THE DRILLS return with their long-awaited new album, POW! Right In The Kisser, set for release on March 28th, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl. A decade in the making, this album captures the band’s signature blend of high-energy rock, blistering guitar work, and anthemic songwriting, delivering an electrifying experience from start to finish.
Opening with “Don’t Wake Up Dead,” the album kicks off with raw energy, setting the stage for a record full of punchy riffs and infectious grooves. “Fake the Day Away” delivers massive hooks and a driving rhythm, while “Heal” slows things down slightly, offering a moment of introspection through soaring melodies and Phil X’s emotive vocals. “Find a Way” brings a bluesy swagger into the mix before launching into “Moving to California,” a reflective track about chasing dreams in the heart of the rock scene.
The second half of the album turns up the intensity, with “You Sunk My Battleship” bringing a thunderous rock edge, and “Seemed Like a Good Idea” delivering a classic hard rock anthem. “Broken Arrow” rides on deep, resonant tones, while “I Love You on Her Lips” injects a playful yet passionate rock energy. The album reaches its crescendo with “Feel Better” and the high-octane closer “Way Gone (Beam Me Up, Scotty),” sealing the record with an explosive finish.
POW! Right In The Kisser is a celebration of rock’s unrelenting spirit, packed with powerful musicianship, infectious hooks, and a healthy dose of attitude. Fans of classic rock, punk-infused energy, and guitar-driven anthems will find plenty to love in this latest release from PHIL X & THE DRILLS.
