REVIEW – KRYPTOS‘ latest album, ‘Decimator,’ is a powerful showcase of classic metal, earning a solid 9/10. Formed in 1998 in Bangalore, India, KRYPTOS is a spearhead of the Indian heavy metal revolution. With seven critically acclaimed albums, they’ve supported metal giants like IRON MAIDEN and TESTAMENT. The band—comprising Nolan Lewis on vocals and guitar, Rohit Chaturvedi on guitar, Ganesh K on bass, and Vijit Sing on drums—delivers a collection of tracks that are both fierce and captivating.

The album opens with “Sirens of Steel,” where eerie tones envelop your senses, setting a hauntingly atmospheric tone. “Fall to the Spectre’s Gaze” follows with fist-pumping, head-banging metal magic. “Turn Up the Heat” is a catchy tune that sticks in your head for days, while “Electrify” will have the crowd on its feet, playing air guitar and letting loose. “Solaris” offers a moment to close your eyes and dream.

The title track, “Decimator,” features crunchy riffs, pounding drums, thumping bass, and great vocals, embodying the essence of classic metal. “In the Shadow of the Blade” keeps the energy high with its fist-pumping rhythms. “Pathfinder” combines crunchy riffs, thundering drums, thumping bass, and powerful vocals with screaming leads. KRYPTOS has a storied history, from their debut album ‘Spiral Ascent’ in 2004 to their latest release. They have toured Europe extensively, including appearances at Wacken Open Air and tours with Death Angel and Sacred Reich. Their sixth album, ‘Force of Danger,’ saw massive success despite the pandemic, followed by another headlining tour in 2023.
