Revelations, the latest EP from thrash metal studio project Doubting Thompson, represents a milestone for the the artist, being the first release through Sliptrick Records. Revelations is the third Doubting Thompson EP and is evidence of a progression in performance and song writing. With the technical precision evidenced on earlier efforts, Revelations dials up the aggression with explosive results track after track for a truly heavy listening experience.
Comprised of tracks with incendiary lyrical topics and brutal riffs, Revelations brings together old school thrash riffery and top notch shredding guitar solos. The five tracks on the EP feature four with lyrics and one instrumental, Sludge, which features an extended solo section in the middle which has been compared to ‘Hangar 18’ by Megadeth. Other highlights include Class Warfare, which kicks off the proceedings with a burst of pure guitar aggression and lyrical venom. Wisconsin kicks it up another notch with a pummelling riff sure to snap necks, and the title track that follows offers up a scathing commentary on the insanity of the internet age.
