Dierks Bentley rolled into Merriweather Post Pavilion on Saturday, July 9th, for his Beers on Me Tour. Dierks was accompanied by new country sensation Jordan Davis and new up and comer, Travis Denning.
First up for the night was Travis Denning. Denning, the young man from Georgia, played a 30- minute-set with all his hits to pump up the crowd. He played songs such as “Buy a Girl a Drink,” “After a Few,” and a true story song about a young man called “David Ashley Parker from Powder Springs.” If you have never heard this song, it is about a young man that has a fake ID. Denning played it up to the crowd the full set for the whole time he was on stage.
After a brief intermission and stage change set up next was Jordan Davis. Davis played a good 45-to-50-minute set with a few of his hit singles that are on the radio. Samples are “Single you Up,” “Almost Maybe,” and his smash hit “Buy Dirt.” Davis is from Shreveport, LA and on this night, he brought his country rocking sound to Columbia MD. The whole time he was on stage he kept the fans in the crowd dancing and singing along.
After another intermission and a huge stage set-up it was time for the man of the hour Dierks Bentley. Bentley opened the Beers on me Tour with one of his old hits “What Was I Thinking.” Dierks played an hour and a half set, with a lot of his hits and new songs. Some of the songs he sang were “Burning Man,” “I Hold On” and “Woman, Amen.” He performed a medley of two songs, ”Up on the Ridge/ The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” Dierks brought Travis Denning back on stage to sing “Bad Angel” with him. He then brought out Jordan Davis and all three gentlemen sang his new song on the radio now, “Beers on Me” which got the crowd excited, especially in the pit area because all three gentlemen were handing out ‘beers on them’. Dierks also performed songs such as “Lot of Leaving Left to Do,” “Somewhere on a Beach,” ”Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go),” and “Drunk on a Plane.” After Dierks and his band exited the stage there were two encores. The first one they did a cover of Travis Tritt’s hit, “T-R-O-U-B-L-E.’ There was a brief change and then it was time for Bentley’s other identity as the hot country Knights. They did cover songs of Brooks and Dunn’s hit, “Brand New Man” and Shania Twain’s hit “Man I Feel Like a Woman!”
