“311 prove they still have incredible momentum on their twelfth album. Mosaic is a surprisingly potent record from 311. It actually may even be their strongest album to date. This is one of the best and most welcome surprises of 2017.” — Allan Raible, ABC NEWS (four-and-a-half star album review, 6/29/17)

NATIONAL HEADLINING TOUR UNDERWAY NOW

311 have crossed yet another milestone in their 27-year career. The group’s brand new album MOSAIC–just released via BMG–has debuted at #6 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart which marks the multi-platinum group’s 10th consecutive Top 10 Album on the chart.  Of 311’s 10 charting albums, five have debuted at #6 on the chart or higher.

In support of MOSAIC, 311–singer/guitarist NICK HEXUM, singer/DJ S.A. MARTINEZ, drummer CHAD SEXTON, bassist P-NUT and guitarist TIM MAHONEY–are currently in the midst of their extensive headlining tour of North America for the 18th summer in a row. The Unity Tour 2017 features special guests New Politics plus The Skints and Passafire (on select shows). The full tour itinerary) is listed below and (here).

“We are incredibly happy to learn that Mosaic was our 10th consecutive Top 10 album,” explains Nick Hexum.  “This achievement is a nod to the loyalty of the 311 fanbase.  We’re very grateful.”

For MOSAIC311 worked with producer John Feldmann (Blink-182, Panic! At The Disco) as well as Scotch Ralston (who produced the group’s iconic TransistorSoundsystem and Stereolithic albums). On the album singer/guitarist NICK HEXUM, guitarist TIM MAHONEY, bassist P-NUT drummer CHAD SEXTON and singer/DJ S.A. MARTINEZ dive into a variety of styles, flexing their collective musical muscle honed from playing together for almost three decades.

MOSAIC features 17 songs. With regards to the current single Too Much To Think,” Nick Hexum states, “This song is about the highs and lows of life.  Seeking an escape from the every day stresses of life.”

Other songs include “’Til The City’s On Fire,” a track inspired by the latest production techniques coming out of Jamaica & the EDM scene; the rocking “Perfect Mistake” with an opening rap from S.A. Martinez that sets a fiery tone; “Too Late” highlights some of the heaviest and most dissonant riffs Hexum and Mahoney have ever churned out; and “Places That The Mind Goes,” an achingly beautiful love song that is by no means sweet.

Following are more critical soundbites for 311’s MOSAIC:

Mosaic, is the most ambitious album the band has released in years. The record captures 311 at its best, uniquely mixing genres like no other band. Few bands combine the musical interests of its members to the point where the band has created a genre all its own. Let’s be honest: No one does what 311 does. And they’ve been rewarded with longevity.” —Kevin Coffey, OMAHA WORLD HERALD (6/23/17)

311 is one of those bands that will be around forever, in a good way. …Their style, energy and fan base has grown over the years, and clearly they are doing something right.”–Melanie Moccia, AXS (6/29/17)

“It’s been almost 30 years since 311 formed, and yet their rabid fan base only continues to grow. The band’s ability to mix genre and reach for new styles of composition has been appreciated for decades, and on their newest effort, Mosaic, the band continues to look towards innovation.” —Christopher Friedman, ARTIST DIRECT (6/23/17)

“311 Sail Into Uncharted Waters with Mosaic. 311 has delivered good vibes, a good time and most importantly, good songs on their twelfth album, Mosaic. What puts Mosaic into another realm is the fact that 311 have not only made a really strong album, but they progressed. They forged new territory. By introducing some outside songwriters to the fold, a different style of production and taking some really big chances, 311 have shown their unwillingness to remain stagnant. Not many bands are still growing twelve albums into their career. But most bands aren’t 311.”  — Joe Hughes, ALTERNATIVE NATION (6/23/17)
