Drag racing was at its’ best this weekend at Texas Motorplex in Ennis. It is fall but you wouldn’t know it from the 90 degree day’s we’ve had but this weekend delivered some fantastic weather.
Qualifying on Saturday results:
Top Fuel: Dave Connelly (3.744)
Funny Car: Del Worsham (3.917)
Pro Stock: Drew Skillman (6.471)
Pro Stock Bike: Jerry Savele (6.765)
Sunday the eliminations started. The most surprising thing was when Clay Millican 3,748 beat Tony Shumacher 4.114 Clay has ran good lately. John Force drew Courtney Force in first round. Courtney went up in tire smoke and John took the win.

This is Breast Cancer Month and NHRA didn’t let us down. Alexis Dejoria, offering free mammograms to all women. I spoke with Allison McCormick. She said they had a great turnout. I think it’s a great thing they are doing.
I had the opportunity to talk to Jim Dunn. He was resting in his Van. He invited me in. We are both retired Firemen. I asked if he missed it. He replied “No, I don’t think about it much.” I then laughed and said, I’m talking about Racing. He laughed and said he didn’t miss driving that much but is still excited about being involved in the sport.
Our home town guy, Tommy Phillips won Super Gas. Congratulations Tommy!
